Classes:

Dancing Brush® offers a class with a twist. While learning oriental calligraphy, that trains your hand, you will also learn the meditative art of Tai Chi. My premise is if I can get your body to move your mind will follow. I teach the Five Element form of Tai Chi that I learned from Chung Liang Al Huang. Those of you that are wanting to develop your right brain as a relaxation from hours of left brain work all day, this is your class. I offer Private Lessons, just call to schedule a mutually convenient time. Come once or for years. Every lesson is individually based. I supply the materials. Come and pay as you go, $65 per 1.5 hour session, $85 for two people...two hours, $105 for three...two hours, etc.  A right brain approach is a must.

Suggestions:

Arrange for a private lesson with your child or grandchild or friend Gift certificates available.

Is the Giant Brush for you? Come and find out!

A unique opportunity!

Call to set up a workshop

NEW  2010 Giant Brush Workshop is HERE!

This is an opportunity to work with some awesome people. Not only the Teachers, but the Participants will bring so much to this event. An opportunity to go Deeper into your well of Creativity. You know many ways already now, even more will be available to you as you learn new ways of accessing your inner powers of expression.

A rare opportunity will present itself on
Saturday January 23, and Sunday January 24, 2010
from 10-4 each day.
Elizabeth Bergmann, Chairman of the Dance Department at
Harvard University
has agreed to come here and co-ordinate a workshop with
me.  We are calling it "Dance and Brush at Dancing Brush"

I know some of you get a little nervous because you 'don't dance' , but you do
move and you have moved in Tai Chi ways so live a little and experience the
expert in movement. Use your  body to experience lyrical and authentic
movement  so that  you will access and touch your most unique  creative
self. Then with Brush in hand...think Giant Brush with two hands....Your
Creation will be expressed in a visible way for you to enjoy.

I will serve lunch both days so we can all stay together.

The fee for the two days, the lunches and both teachers, will be $350.

There will be some spaces available for sliding scale based on need.

Please talk with me for those arrangements. We want to make it available to those that are passionately interested.

So this is a little taste of the plans we have for the two day workshop.
Please email me of your interest
dancingbrush@cox.net

Or write to Dancing Brush 1770 Rubenstein Drive, Cardiff by the
Sea, CA 92007 to secure your place.

Looking forward to this exciting time with you,
Rosemary KimBal

PS: An interesting aside: Elizabeth Bergmann was Madonna's dance teacher at University of Michigan at Ann Arbor as well as Christine Dakin, the Artistic Director of Martha Graham Dance Company and her book Connecting to Creativity: Ten Keys to Unlocking Your Creative Potential. is awesome.

Our 2009 Giant Brush Workshop - What it was like

On Saturday February 14th, 2009, Valentine's Day, 7 students treated themselves to unusual pairing of Brush Painting, Tai Chi and the Culinary Arts. It’s been our first experiment to integrate the visual and movement with the senses of taste, smell and texture. The students immersed themselves into the Asian Arts as we brilliantly choreographed a day that included the exploration into Giant Brush Painting, Tai Chi and Vietnamese Culinary Arts.

Vietnamese/American chef, Jayne Nguyen Moulton, revealed the mysteries of the Culinary Art of soup known as "Pho". The Pho was accompanied by an exploration into the subtleties and nuances of Spring Rolls.
Luncheon turned out to be a banquet of their own creations.

Dancing Brush offers an unheard-of chance for you to try out the fabled giant brushes from China.

We recently received a number of giant brushes bearing the Dancing Brush® name. Bristle diameters range up to 3½ inches and lengths to 9 inches. The handles are up to 33 inches long. To help us evaluate and recommend these exotic brushes, you can try many of them in a private all-day workshop.

Enjoy the day in a relaxing and creative atmosphere at Rosemary KimBal’s Artist’s Studio in Cardiff by the Sea. 10 am to 4 pm, with lunch included. Plan to wear dark clothes, as sumi (ink) is permanent.

Space is limited due to the size of the brushes and the paper needed. Interest has been great prior to announcement but a few places remain. (Also, we can wait-list you in case someone can’t make it.)

Dare to dare. Call 760-943-7496 or email Dancing Brush® for details.
