"The Subject is Light"
   ( Assignment # 6)

IN PHOTOGRAPHY THE SUBJECT IS ALWAYS LIGHT!

Assignment: Look for beautiful light and photograph it. Use what you have learned so far about exposure and composition.

Often beautiful light happens earlier in the day or later in the day rather than at noon. Why do you think this is?

Think about what film you want to use. Do you want fine grain or lots of grain? If you want a smooth, fine grained image you will want to use a slower speed film. If you are shooting very early or very late in the day (or inside a building) using a slower film, you might need a tripod or a very fast lens. If you want an image that is more grainy, you will be using a faster film.

Look at the way the light brings out the texture in objects, especially when it is raking across them from the side, or at a lower angle. Look at how things (or people) placed near a window may look especially good at certain times of the day.

Remember it is the way the light falls on the object or subject and how you compose the image that is important here.

To Turn In: Be creative! You only need to turn in One Good 8 x 10, mounted and handed in with your contact sheet and your exposure information.
