Mingei is a Japanese folk art involving the folding of decorative papers to create books, greeting cards, jewelry and more. Japan, along with China and Korea, have a wonderful and rich paper art tradition that stretches back for centuries. The beauty and simplicity of Japanese art and design where paper is an integral part of its history has inspired these projects.

"Washi" is a paper made in Japan. It can be folded, dyed, crumpled and painted. The papers used in this book are specially chosen for their strength, beauty and durability.
